Essendon drivers put a particular kind of workload on a Volkswagen. Between the Tullamarine Freeway, CityLink and the Bulla Road run past Essendon Fields, a lot of local Golfs, Passats and Tiguans rack up long, fast kilometres — and then sit in Mount Alexander Road and Buckley Street traffic on the way home. That mix of sustained highway load followed by heat-soaked crawling is exactly what ages DSG fluid, engine oil and cooling systems faster than the odometer suggests.
We're a specialist European workshop in Brooklyn, roughly 20min from Essendon down Hoffmans Road or across the Western Ring Road. We service every modern Volkswagen — plus Audi, Škoda, Cupra, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW — and we hold a full RTA licence (AU068055), so our logbook servicing is recorded properly and does not void your new-car warranty.

If you commute up the Tullamarine or Calder each day, your DSG is a high-duty-cycle component, not a set-and-forget one. We recommend a DSG service every 60,000 km. On oil-bathed ("wet clutch") units — DQ250, DQ381 and DQ500 — the clutch packs run submerged in fluid that also feeds the Mechatronic unit. Over time that fluid carries clutch material and fine debris, and sustained freeway heat accelerates its breakdown. Once the fluid loads up, it starts restricting the solenoid valves inside the Mechatronic, and the failure sequence is predictable: harsh or hesitant shifts, then overheating clutches, then a repair bill several times the cost of the service you skipped.
A standard DSG service with us covers OEM-approved fluid and filter, a full transmission scan, and an adaptation reset so shift quality actually returns to normal afterwards — a step commonly skipped elsewhere, and the reason some cars feel worse after a fluid change.
Because our name is Euro Auto Mechatronics, the Mechatronic unit is where we do our deepest work. When a fault appears, many workshops quote a complete gearbox replacement by default. We diagnose first, and where the fault is electronic or hydraulic rather than terminal, we can repair or replace the Mechatronic unit alone — including TCU cloning where the replacement unit needs to inherit your car's specific data so it matches your vehicle, immobiliser and adaptations.

Golf (including GTI and R), Polo, Passat, Jetta, Tiguan, T-Roc, Touareg, Amarok, Caddy and Transporter. We also look after Audi S-tronic (A3, A4, A5, Q3, Q5), Škoda (Octavia, Superb, Kodiaq) and Cupra models.
We regularly see customers from Essendon, Essendon North, Essendon West, Essendon Fields, Aberfeldie, Moonee Ponds, Niddrie, Strathmore and Airport West.
Essendon to Brooklyn is a straightforward run — down Hoffmans Road and Williamson Road, or via the M80 if you're coming from the northern end. Essendon station on Russell Street (Craigieburn line) and the 59 tram along Mount Alexander Road both connect back into the city easily.
No. Australian law allows you to service your new car outside the dealer network provided the work follows the manufacturer's schedule and uses appropriate parts and fluids. We're RTA-licensed (AU068055), use OEM-approved consumables and complete your logbook properly.
Very likely, yes. Manufacturer intervals assume average use. Sustained high-speed running, short-trip city driving and heavy loads all shorten oil and DSG fluid life. Tell us your annual kilometres and driving mix and we'll recommend a realistic interval.
You're overdue, not doomed. Book a scan and fluid inspection first — if there are no stored Mechatronic or clutch faults, a fluid and filter service is usually the right call. If faults are already present, we'll tell you before you spend money on oil.
A DSG service typically takes a few hours to complete, although the exact duration can vary depending on the current workload and service complexity.
